The ash heap of history is the right place for the likes of Bahrain’s Foreign Minister, Abdul Latif Al-Zayani, whose pictures signing a document with Israel in September flooded the television screens.

In mid-November, Bahrain Foreign Minister, with a high-level Bahraini delegation, visited the occupying Zionist entity, two months after Bahrain signed the normalization agreement.

Local and international media reported that the Minister’s plane landed at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv, in the Palestinian occupied territories since 1948. He was accompanied by an American delegation headed by the peace envoy, Avi Berkowitz.

The Bahraini Minister started his visit by meeting his Israeli counterpart Gabi Ashkenazi, who was involved in war crimes against the Palestinian people, as Ashkenazi held the position of Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army from 2007 to 2011, and in the last two years, he worked with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who started his second term in 2009.

During a press conference held with Ashkenazi at the headquarters of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs in West Jerusalem, Al-Zayani said that his country agreed to a request to open an Israeli embassy in Manama and submitted a formal request to open an embassy in Israel.

While signing the Declaration on the Normalization of Relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Israel, the Foreign Minister of Bahrain described this move as a “truly historic moment” adding that it was “a moment of great hope and several opportunities for all the peoples of the Middle East”.

Al-Zayani, who appeared weak in front of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and forgot the crimes committed against the Arab peoples, said: “To the State of Israel and His Excellency Mr. Netanyahu, the Prime Minister; we welcome and appreciate these steps that you and your government have taken, through which you acknowledged that the best way to achieve peace and security is the real engagement, which guarantees the rights and interests of countries and peoples of the region”.
